This morning Sorin was a bit tired as he was up late last night watching the news. The mayor of Bucharest plus some other officials were arrested on Sunday night
for accepting bribes. Sorin was up until after 1am watching the story unfold. Its a big story, and Sorin is pleased as corruption is like a leach.
After breakfast Sorin and I left Bucharest for the Transylvania region of Romania. We drove for about 2 hours and went to Mt. Caraiman
which is in the Carpathian mountains, here we took the cable car up the mountain.
We then walked to a first world war memorial. It took about an hour to walk there, and we stopped off to eat our packed lunch on the way.
As it was about 2300 metres high it was cold and the air was thin, so we became breathless quicker than if we were walking at ground level.
The views were amazing and well worth the effort.
We went back down in the cable car and then drove on to Pestera which is a small village surrounded by mountains and views,
and where we checked into our bed and breakfast.
Its a really nice B&B with great views out the windows and comfort in the room.
After putting our stuff in the room we went out for a walk around Pestera. Its a small peaceful rural village.
Sorin talked about how this would be where he would build a retreat for Pastors if ever someone gave him the money.
We returned to the B&B for dinner (so really it's not just bed and breakfast!) We had baked trout with polenta and baked mixed vegetables.
When I asked for coffee the chef made me a Turkish coffee. So I might not be able to sleep tonight!
